It is no coincidence that so many refrigerators are connected to timers. As surprising as it may seem, one may prefer to insert a timer rather than adopt a kosher refrigerator.
In fact, a kosher refrigerator must meet two contradictory requirements.
Opening the door must not have a direct influence on the operation of the appliance.
The temperature of the food should not vary too much.
Some models, in order not to take any risks, with the first requirement, deactivate the thermal regulation of the appliance. The temperature is no longer controlled. This results in a significant deterioration in the quality of the food.
Other models leave it to the manufacturers to solve the second requirement. The designer is best placed to modify the program of the control computer, so that during Shabbat, opening the door has no visible consequences, and the operation of the refrigerator does not change too much. Magnificent! Except that this program is secret. I have seen documentation explaining the operation of such a kosher device. Opening the door causes all the functional data of the device to be blocked (compressor speed, fan activation, etc.). As long as the door is open, this data is kept constant. After closing the door, the refrigerator resumes its normal operation. If we observe the device from the outside, opening the door does not cause any visible phenomenon, no increase in electric current, no fan that starts up. But is it kosher?
The timer elegantly solves both requirements
Opening the refrigerator door when it is off does not disturb it at all.
By adjusting the number and duration of the extinctions, we ensure that the temperature of the food is acceptable. Especially if we use a thermometer.
While browsing the site, you may have noticed that the SHAON-SHANA improves the good old timer even further.
